Solium Infernum (2024) is a critically acclaimed turn-based grand strategy game released on Steam by League of Geeks. It is a thorough reimagining of the original of the same name released in 2009 by Vic Davis (Cryptic Comet), wherein Satan has mysteriously vanished and Hell is in an uproar. Play as one of eight all-powerful and menacing Archfiends and indulge your Machiavellian dark side. Command legions, enlist champions, cast sinister rituals, and trick, rob, and insult your rivals to be crowned Hell’s new Dark Majesty.
As the Principal Designer on Solium Infernum, I was responsible for leading the design team in reimagining this strategy cult classic. Our goals were to push the user experience and game design forward for a modern audience, while maintaining the political paranoia of the gameplay and the thematic sophistication from the creative team. I personally oversaw the single-player Chronicles scenarios and the player on-boarding experience of the tutorial, as well as key game systems, content, and deep mechanical balancing considerations for singleplayer and multiplayer.
